WPRI.com - A funeral was held on Friday morning at St. Mary's Church in North Attleboro for fallen marine, Capt. Kyle Van De Giesen.
Van De Giesen, 29, a Marine pilot, was killed last Monday in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan. His body was returned to the U.S. last Thursday, along with 17 colleagues who were also killed that week.
On Thursday night hundred gathered for a candle light vigil was held at Community Field where Van De Giesen played high school football.
Van De Giesen leaves behind a pregnant wife, 18-month old daughter, parents, two brothers, and a sister.
He graduated North Attleboro High School in 1998, and St. Anselm College in 2002.
