WPRI.com - An early morning motorcycle crash leaves one person dead.

Police are investigating the single vehicle crash happening on Route 146A northbound in North Smithfield near the Family Fun Center. Authorities say it appears as though the driver of the motorcycle veered to the left, striking a guardrail around 5:56 a.m. Friday morning.

The victim has been identified as 40 year-old, Carlos Lemos of East Providence. Officials say Lemos was pronounced dead at the scene.

Traffic was backed up for a bit during the morning commute. It is unclear exactly what caused the crash. Police are continuing to investigate.
