NEW BEDFORD, Mass. - New Bedford Police are investigating a shooting that happened late Wednesday night at the corner of Collins Street and Cedar Street.
Police said someone was shot shortly after 10:00 p.m. Firefighters also responded to the scene. Investigators would not release details on the victim's condition, or any suspects.
The shooting Wednesday night was the latest in a rash of gun crimes in the city. On Monday, a person was shot in the arm on Middle Street. Last week, Wayne Rice was gunned down at a V.F.W. hall on Park Street. Police are also still looking for the gunman who shot and killed 32-year-old John Martin in the Petro Mart on Coggeshall Street earlier this month.
