Rehoboth, Mass. (WPRI) - Rehoboth residents living on School Street say they are shocked after a nearby home invasion in broad daylight.

Police were called to the home around 3 o'clock on Friday afternoon. The homeowner called 9-1-1, telling police a man with a gun broke into the home, tied her up, and left with her car. She was able to free herself after the suspect fled.

Officials say the suspect, 27-year-old John Keough, then led police on a chase, eventually leading to Slater Park in Pawtucket.

A tense standoff inside the park prompted authorities to evacuate the area. Keough reportedly held a gun to his head and chest before negotiators were eventually able to talk him down. He is now in custody.

Neighbors of the victim describe her family as quiet and nice, and say that they now feel on edge, despite police calling this a random act.

The victim was shaken up but was not harmed in the attack. Her husband and two children were not home during the invasion.
