DENVERS, Mass (WPRI) - A judge agrees to hear John Cicilline's appeal for an early release from prison.
Mayor David Cicilline's brother, a former lawyer, is currently serving an eighteen month sentence for shaking down drug dealing clients for cash.
Cicilline is scheduled to be released in Febuary. He says he needs to get out of prison early to take an employment opportunity that will only be available for a short period of time and to take care of his teenage dautghters.
His eighteen month sentence was handed down after Cicilline pleaded guilty to being apart of a legal conspiracy. He is currently incarcerated at Fort Devens Federal Prison in Massachusetts.
Cicilline was serve an additional two years of probation once he is released from prison.
