BOSTON, Mass. (AP/WPRI) - Former Massachusetts House Speak Salvatore DiMasi is scheduled to appear in federal court on Thursday, facing additional criminal charges.
He is set to be arraigned on an expanded indictment that adds extortion to an earlier list of public corruption charges.
DiMasi and three associates are accused of rigging state contracts for software company Cognos, in exchange for payments. DiMasi is accused of pocketing $57,000 from the scandal.
All four men have pleaded not guilty to the charges.
