BURRILLVILLE, R.I. (WPRI) - A local man was indicted for raping his roommate after taking him prisoner and torturing him with various items including a chainsaw, a meat cleaver and a screwdriver. According to investigators the ordeal lasted more than two months.
Forty-three year old Domenic DiMuccio of Burrillville faces 22 counts including five counts of first degree sexual assault, eleven counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and kidnapping. The unidentified victim is 34 years old who according to Burrillville police lived with DiMuccio before the truck driver tied him up in a trailer on his Sherman Road property.
According to Attorney General's spokesman Mike Healey, DiMuccio also assaulted the victim with a fork, a hose, a boot and a flashlight. Healey says on at least one occasion, the meat cleaver was held against the victim's throat.
The investigation began in February when the victim went to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment. A doctor tipped off police after the victim told him that he was tortured and held prisoner. DiMuccio was arrested a short time later.
According to the indictment, the assaults began December 1,
2007. No word from investigators how the victim escaped. DiMuccio
is currently locked up without bail at the Adult Correctional
Institution in Cranston.
