Man in serious condition fell at mall
Victim tried to slide down escalator, fell off

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - Emergency crews respond to Providence Place Mall after a man falls off an escalator high above the ground.
Police said a 25-year-old man was trying to slide down the escalator when his friends said he fell off, landing on his face. Police said the man was unconscious when crews arrived at the scene.
The man, who police are not identifying, was taken to Rhode Island Hosptial's trauma unit where he is listed in serious condition. The fall occurred just before midnight Friday.
Police said the incident appears to be accidental.
