LINCOLN, R.I. (WPRI) - Twin River has laid off 27 greyhound workers, according to the Rhode Island Greyhound Owners Association.

In a statement Monday night, RIGOA called the layoffs at the Lincoln Slot Parlor "unfortunate."

Twin River has filed for bankruptcy, and is seeking to eliminate greyhound racing as it struggles with a mountain of debt.

Twin River did not return calls seeking comment Monday night.
