PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - Rhode Island has released the latest unemployment numbers, and it is roughly the same as last month's.
The state's Department of Labor and Training says the unemployment rate held steady at 9.3% in November.
Officials say about 400 Rhode Islanders reported losing their jobs last month, but the survey shows the state lost 4,000 jobs.
"Some of the jobs that were lost are what we think were part time jobs for people, so they may have kept their primary jobs, so they are still employed and it does not affect the unemployment rate," says Sandra Powell.
Rhode Island no longer has the highest unemployment rate in the country. It was tied with Michigan; unemployment there grew to 9.6%.
