Hundreds of demonstrators gathered in front of the Rhode Island State House Wednesday night to hold a vigil in support of President Obama's health care reform plan.
The rally was organized by members from Moveon.org Political Action, a group that typically supports Democrats and liberal causes.
The protestors gathered to voice their opinions about the current health care system. Organizers said the nation's current system has failed many Americans, and that it is time for a plan that covers all citizens. A small counter-protest gathered nearby.
Nearly 300 other vigils were held on Wednesday night at the same time throughout the country.
Organizers say the vigil was held in honor of Senator Ted Kennedy's memory and his dream of universal health care.
