PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP_ - A former clerk for the Rhode Island Division of Motor
Vehicles is on trial for creating phony driver's licenses in
exchange for cash.
The trial for Dolores Rodriguez LaFlamme began Wednesday in
U.S. District Court. She is charged with conspiracy, identity theft
and fraudulently producing driver's licenses.
Prosecutors have said she made valid licenses for people who
could not legally get them. People allegedly paid intermediaries
between $700 and $2,500, and LaFlamme kept some of the money for
making the bogus licenses -- about 30 of them in all.
Her attorney did not immediately return a phone message
seeking comment.
