SEEKONK, Mass. (WPRI) - Several animals died in a massive fire that destroyed a barn on Meadow Court in Seekonk Sunday.

The fire broke out shortly after 6:00 p.m. Seekonk Fire Chief Alan Jack said propane and gas tanks inside the barn exploded, feeding the intense flames. The size of the barn made it harder for firefighters to bring the fire under control.

The owner of the barn worked with firefighters to get many of the animals inside the barn out. However, Chief Jack said several chickens, hens and rabbits were killed. No one else was injured.

Firefighters believe the fire was accidental. They expect to know the cause on Monday.
