EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - The East Providence Teachers Union met again Monday night, to discuss the ongoing contract dispute.
A judge denied the Union's injunction, supporting the School Committee's decision to cut teachers' salaries and enforcing health care payments. The proposed contract cut teacher salaries by five percent, and forced teachers to pay twenty percent of their health insurance.
Union leaders said they will appeal the ruling.
Union spokeswoman Valerie Lawson spoke with Eyewitness News about the judge's ruling, "We're willing to go back to the table and bargain. We've accepted the arbitrator's decision, and we believe the actions of the School Committee are unlawful."
The case heads to the Labor Board in March.
