EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - Workers laid off from an East Providence jewerly-making plant rallied Tuesday against the company, claiming the business shut down down without notice.

About 60 former Workers and supporters rallied in front of Colibri plant headquarters on Fairmount Avenue in East Providence at noon.

Fuerza Laboral, a Rhode Island based organization of immigrants and low-income workers - help organize the rally.

Colibri closed last month, leaving more than 200 Rhode Islanders without a job.

Federal Law requires a minimum of 60 days notice for a major plant closing. Fuerza Laboral argues Colibri violated the law.

Former workers are demanding 60 days pay, and 60 days health care, and severance for years worked.

Representatives from Colibri could not be reached for comment.
