CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) - Police have released more details about a car crash that ended inside a Cranston home.
Emergency crews responded to Ocean Avenue just after 1:30 Sunday morning after police say 20-year-old John Viveiros crashed into the side of a house.
All four adult passengers inside the car at the time of the accident were taken to Rhode Island Hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. Viveiros was taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence and refusing to take a chemical breath test.
Viveiros appeared in court on Wednesday for a preliminary hearing for license suspension for refusing the breath test. After the hearing his license was preliminarily suspended, with another hearing scheduled.
The driver is also facing four felony counts of driving to endanger resulting in personal injury. He was arraigned on those charges on Wednesday, with a judge setting Viveiros’ bail at 26,000 dollars with surety.
Viveiros’ next court date is set for Friday. He was also
ordered to appear on November 12th to answer to a probation
violation on an unrelated charge.
