CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) - Police in Cranston have identified the three male victims killed in a weekend crash that also left four people seriously injured.
The driver, identified as 20-year-old Connor Young of Cranston, and another passenger in the Pontiac, 19-year-old Richard Elliot of Warwick, both died shortly after the accident. A third male passenger, 22-year-old Christopher Athaide, died a short time later at Rhode Island Hospital.
Two juvenile passengers in the vehicle, and two others in another vehicle were also transported to Rhode Island Hospital to be treated for serious injuries.
The crash occurred at 11:37 p.m. Saturday on Elmwood Ave. and Fourth Avenue.
A preliminary investigation by police revealed that a 2005 white Pontiac G6 was traveling south bound on Elmwood Avenue when its driver lost control and the car crossed the double yellow line, into the north bound lanes in the area of Fourth Avenue.
After crossing into the north bound lanes the car was struck by a 1994 Ford Thunder Bird which was traveling north bound on Elmwood Avenue.
Police say a third car is now being investigated in the crash.
