WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WPRI) - A Woonsocket liquor store clerk survived an attempted robbery at knifepoint on Tuesday night. The suspect was arrested and charged with armed robbery.
Kevin Mortimer, 20, of Woonsocket, entered the store and immediately requested assistance from store owner John Quinn in locating an item. Within moments, Quinn found his life being threatened by knifepoint.
Quinn fell to the ground and faked a heart attack. Quinn found time to grab his gun once Mortimer backed away.
“I said we’re going to play my way now, and that was it,” Quinn said. “I said many things to him indicating that if he made any move towards me, then the show was over.”
Mortimer immediately left the store. He was arrested by police minutes later and charged with armed robbery.
