LINCOLN - In a final push before Election Day, Senate President Joseph Montalbano and challenger Ed O'Neill are going door-to-door looking for votes.
Montalbano is a 20-year veteran at the State House who is now facing a challenge from political-newcomer, Ed O'Neill, who is running as an Independent.
Both men are battling it out for District 17, which covers Pawtucket, North Providence and Lincoln.
"For many years I was unopposed. It's a good opportunity, a welcome change," Montalbano said.
Montalbano is currently Senate President, a powerful position in state government that is up there with Governor and Speaker of the House.
However, O'Neill is reminding voters that Montalbano paid the third largest fine in the history of the state's Ethics Commission.
"Families are fed up. The people are fed up. They've had enough," said O'Neill.
