PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - There is a temporary relief in a local contract dispute. Blue Cross and Care New England agree to extend their current contract, through March.
The two health insurance companies have been stuck in contract disputes for months. There were fears Blue Cross patients would lose coverage at Care New England hospitals if a new deal wasn't struck by January 1, 2009.
Eyewitness News has learned that both sides now hope to strike a new deal by the end of this year.
