BARRINGTON, R.I. (WPRI) - When the judge sentences Ryan Greenberg next month, the Attorney General's office wants the Barrington teenager to get the maximum penalty.
Greenberg, 19, pleaded no contest last month to reckless boating, death resulting in the death of Patrick Murphy, 17. Greenberg was driving the boat that struck and killed Murphy on the Barrington River on July 17, 2007.
Under the plea deal, Greenberg can be sentenced to no more than five years in prison. Prosecutors filed a memorandum in Superior Court Friday, asking Judge Daniel A. Procaccini to impose the maximum when Greenberg is sentenced July 22, arguing that is is not appropriate for him to serve his term on work release or home confinement.
Greenberg is currently on home confinement pending sentencing.
