ATTLEBORO, R.I. (WPRI) - Chuck E. Cheese's, a restaurant that caters to kids, was caught selling alcohol to minors, according to Attleboro's Alcohol Licensing Board.
The Route 1 restaurant was among three establishments cited during a recent sting, said Vicki Nason, board administrator. Eli's Pizza and Wehterlaine's, both on County St., were the other two.
In all, 27 businesses were targeted in the Nov. 8 operation, during which an underage person was sent in to order alcohol. Twenty-four businesses asked for identification, but the three businesses cited did not, and served the minor, Nason said.
All three restaurants received warnings from the licensing board. Nason said it was the first offense for all of them. However, if they are caught selling to minors again, Nason said their licenses to serve alcohol could be suspended.
