(WPRI) - Water bacteria has dropped enough at four local beaches so they can be re-opened to swimming.

The Rhode Island Department of Health has given the okay for swimming at these beaches:

  • City Park Beach, Warwick
  • Conimicut Point Beach, Warwick
  • Oakland Beach, Warwick
  • Peabodys Beach, Middletown

The following three beaches are still closed:

  • Barrington Town Beach, Barrington
  • Camp Canonicus, Exeter
  • Gorton Pond Beach, Warwick

The DOH's website, http://www.health.ri.gov is the best source for daily changes in beach status, along with the department's recorded phone line, 401-222-2751.
