SOMERSET, MA (WPRI) - The investigation continues into Thursday's deadly house explosion in Somerset.

Investigators have been examining the underground gas pipes near the home. Some neighbors are able to get back into their homes, but not everyone.

People continue to return to their homes in Somerset, but the people who live across the street from the explosion won't be back in their house for a long time.

Foo Kwan is back to work, 48 hours after an explosion nearly destroyed his home.

"i grew up in that house, the neighborhood is so nice. i just wish this could have been avoided."

Kwan's family immigrated 22 years ago and opened the China Lake restaurant in Somerset. But the American dream is not complete without a home. So it's fitting they chose the American Terrace neighborhood.

Foo Kwan: "Everybody here is very nice, I just don't want to leave this area. it's the land of opportunity."

But Thursday, the American dream became a nightmare. Kwan's mother was home with her nephews when there was an explosion. They ran outside without shoes on their feet, as fire and debris filled the area.

Kwan says an unidentified man saved their lives.

"He lifted my nephews away to safety and came back and got my mom. He really was a hero."

If the man who helped the Kwans is out there, they want to say thank you. Everyone in their family is safe.

There's a lot of work to be done, but they hope to be back home soon.
