3 dead, 4 injured in Cranston accident

CRANSTON, R.I. (AP) - Police say three young men are dead and four people suffered multiple serious injuries after a motor vehicle accident in Cranston.

Police said in a statement released Sunday that two men in their  20s were pronounced dead at the scene of the late Saturday crash.

A third man from the same vehicle died later at Rhode Island Hospital.

Three women and one man from the two vehicles involved in the crash were taken to hospital with multiple serious injuries.

The crash occurred at 11:37 p.m. on Elmwood Ave., near the Fourth Ave.

Police say the victims were Rhode Island residents. The names of the dead were being withheld late Sunday, pending notification of family members.

A police investigation continues.
