PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Rhode Islanders are finding welcome news at the gas pump this week

AAA Southern New England says in its weekly survey Monday that gas prices in the state have dropped for the first time in 11 weeks.

The survey says the average price for self-serve regular unleaded has dropped by a penny, to $2.69 a gallon. It's six cents above the national average, and an increase of more than a dollar since the start of the year.

A separate survey from the state Office of Energy Resources recorded the same average price.
