PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Gas prices in Rhode Island have fallen below $2 a gallon for the first time since March 2005.

AAA Southern New England said in its weekly survey today that a gallon of regular self-serve unleaded averaged $1.92 a gallon.

That is 18 cents less than last week's average, and $1.15 less than the average price at Thanksgiving last year.

AAA says the last time prices were so low was on March 7, 2005, when the average was $1.96.

The state Office of Energy Resources recorded the average Monday at a slightly lower $1.91.
