REHOBOTH, MASS., (WPRI) - Disaster in Haiti.
Here in Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts, many local organizations have stepped up to help the island nation in ruins.
And one local pastor just arrived back after flying hundreds of pounds of supplies for the relief effort.
Pastor Dennis Baril tells us its hard to imagine the devastation and he's hoping his story will help.
The pastor and pilot Scott Martin unloaded their plane at New Bedford airport , after a week of transporting 22 thousand pounds of supplies and dozens of medical workers, from the Dominican Republic to Haiti.
Baril says, "they have no electricity, no water normally, and they have barely enough food to live on themselves."
The men represent Rehoboth's Community Covenant Church.
While in Haiti they witnessed demand growing daily, as thousands of refugees evacuating Port-Au-Prince overwhelm other cities across the island.
Both men say they hope to return to Haiti to help with the relief effort.
