LINCOLN, R.I. (WPRI) - The line stretched out the door at Cinemaworld at the Lincoln Mall Thursday night. Hundreds of people were all waiting to see the new "Twilight" movie.
"I've been waiting in line for ten hours," said one fan, and she was not alone. Another fan said she and her friend arrived at the theater around noon on Thursday, despite having purchased tickets back in September. A third said she had come straight from school.
Cinemaworld, along with other theaters around Rhode Island, reported that midnight showings of "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" had sold out several days in advance.
"New Moon" is the second installment in the series, based on the books by author Stephenie Meyer. They tell the story of a human girl who falls in love with a vampire. The books have become multi-million bestsellers, and the first "Twilight" film grossed over $300 million worldwide.
Some analysts believe "New Moon" could take in as much as $90 million its opening weekend.
