PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- Providence Home Depot stores in are now accepting applications for seasonal spring associates.

They are expected to hire 300 seasonal workers.

Officials say that many Home Depot seasonal jobs can turn into permanent positions. In 2012, more than 70,000 spring hires were given permanent positions with the company.

This upcoming spring season, there will be a 14 percent increase in seasonal hires from last year.

The new seasonal hires will be assigned responsibilities based on previous retail or home improvement experience and based on the needs of the individual store.

Home Depot recently launched its Online Military Skills Translator for returning military and veterans to help them match unique military skills with positions.

Home Depot plans to hire 80,000 seasonal workers across the country for their busiest selling season.
