EAST PROVIDENCE, RI (WPRI) -- The ongoing dry conditions have led to several brush fires this month and elevated wildfire risk continues for much of New England.
Eyewitness News Meteorologist Pete Mangione said "Even though we had some rain last week, winds are expected to be lighter, and some rain is expected this week, very dry brush and low humidity will mean that any brush fires can still develop and spread. In fact, this is what we have seen as fires have been common in our area."
Brush fires have been prevalent throughout the area:
Most fires did not damage homes or lead to major injuries. Cool rain is forecasted for Tuesday morning which would help reduce the risk.
