FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) - The tough economic climate has forced the city of Fall River to cancel a summer tradition.

For almost 25 years The Fall River Celebrates America event has been a highlight of the summer, but the event has been called off for the 2010 season.

The Board of Directors for the Chamber of Commerce say they cancelled the celebration due to soaring costs and a lack of sponsers.

The Chamber created the family-friendly event 24 years ago and say they hope to bring it back in 2011.
