WARREN, R.I. (WPRI) -- The Attorney General's office has reimbursed the Town of Warren thousands of dollars it spent removing dozens of illegal docks.
Attorney General Peter Kilmartin announced Thursday his office sent $7,356.48 to Warren's solicitor to cover the expense of removing over 100 docks placed in the Kickemuitt River last year by Thomas Koolen.
According to the attorney general, Koolen did not have a permit to install the docks, which were a hazard to boaters. The docks were removed earlier this year, following months of legal wrangling.
Kilmartin said the money to pay back the town came from the foreclosure of Koolen's property.
