NEWPORT, R.I. (WPRI) - A 16-year-old girl is facing criminal charges after a video of her assaulting a fellow classmate at Rogers High School was made public.

The 52-second video shows the girl punching the victim, pulling the victim's hair and dragging her through school grounds.  The fight took place in front of a large group of people who are all believed to be students.  One student video recorded the brawl.

The assaulter has been charged with simple assault. The victim was not seriously injured during the fight.

Superintendent John Ambrogi did not comment on the punishment of both the assaulter or the students who were watching, but he did say that appropriate disciplinary action has been taken.
