TIVERTON, R.I. (WPRI) - Tiverton Police say a 29-year-old man attacked his parents late Saturday evening, killing his father and severely injuring his mother.
Police were called to 31 Woodlawn Circle at 12:01 a.m. Sunday after neighbors reported hearing screaming.
A neighbor tells Eyewitness News the screaming coming from the home was so intense, he couldn't find the words to describe it.
Police found 62-year-old Conrad Beaulieu suffering from multiple stab wounds to the head, neck, and torso. His wife, Dianne Beaulieu, was lying in the driveway of the home also suffering from stab wounds. Conrad was taken to Saint Anne's Hospital where he died.
The couple's son, Joel Beaulieu is in police custody, accused of committing the stabbings.
Dianne Beaulieu teaches French at Tiverton High School and Conrad Beaulieu was a teacher at the town's middle school. Dianne's former student, Derek McCoy, says she is an amazing teacher, who is committed to her students.
A neighbor says the family appeared to be very happy, but no one can be sure what went on behind closed doors.
Dianne Beaulieu is being treated at Rhode Island Hospital and is listed in critical condition. Her son was taken to the ACI and is now facing charges of murder and assault with the intent to murder. Police are still searching for a motive for the attacks.
