TIVERTON, R.I. (WPRI) - A man was rescued Friday afternoon, after his car landed upside-down in a Tiverton swamp, trapping him inside.
Investigators said the Corvette convertible lost control around 1:30 p.m. on Bridle Way, and flipped over into the swamp. Firefighters said the muck softened the impact of the car, but made it harder to pull the 47-year-old driver out.
Crews used special platforms and airbags to help free the man from the wreck. He was flown to Rhode Island Hospital with an arm injury.
People who live along Bridle Way told Eyewitness News Friday night that many people drive too fast on the winding road.
The accident is still under investigation.
