PORTSMOUTH, R.I. (WPRI) -- The Rhode Island Department of Transportation plans to reopen a Portsmouth bridge Tuesday, following months of repair work.
The Cove Bridge was shut down last November. According to the DOT, it has undergone a $2 million rehabilitation.
Deterioration forced The DOT to reduce weight limits on the bridge in 2009. Those limits will be lifted, the DOT said Monday.
The Cove Bridge carries Hummocks Point Road over a tidal inlet. It is one of two evacuation routes for the Island Park area.
