NEWPORT, R.I. (AP) A 5K race and marathon could cause traffic and parking problems in Newport this weekend.

Police in Rhode Island's city by the sea say Saturday's 5K race and Sunday's marathon could cause traffic interruptions.

There won't be any special traffic or parking rules in place for the 5K but no parking will be allowed on Memorial Boulevard from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.

Saturday's 5K begins and ends at Brenton Point State Park. The event gets underway at 7 a.m.

Sunday's marathon starts at Easton's Beach at about 7 a.m. Sunday.

Police say officers will be stationed along the routes of both races.
