MIDDLETOWN, R.I. (WPRI) -- The Department of Health has declared that Third Beach can re-open to swimmers.
The announcement comes just three days after officials recommended a closure of the Middletown beach after finding high levels of bacteria in the water.
New water samples show that the bacteria numbers are back within acceptable limits.
The department says they will continue to monitor the water to assure the safety of beachgoers.
