LITTLE COMPTON, R.I. (AP/WPRI) - Cranston jewelry manufacturer Alex and Ani is branching out - literally.
The environmentally friendly company has purchased the 170-acre Sakonnet Vineyards in Little Compton for $8.5 million.
The purchase also includes 70 acres of nearby land.
President Carolyn Rafaelian says the winery and the jewelry company make a "perfect pairing."
Alex and Ani recently also opened a coffee shop named Teas and Javas in Providence's Wayland Square.
Alex and Ani, which has grown quickly since it was founded in 2004, is based in Cranston. Its products are made of recycled materials and are manufactured in the United States.
