NEWPORT, R.I. (WPRI) - Salas’ Dining Room on Thames Street was sold for $2 million, according to our news partners at The Providence Journal .
The restaurant was sold to Larry Silverstein who plans to restore the building and continue to operate his own restaurant.
The landmark was one of the longest-running family restaurants in Newport.
According to The Providence Journal, the business began as a bar in 1952, opening up as a restaurant a year later.
