BRISTOL, R.I. (WPRI) -- A local infant couldn't wait to get to the hospital to be born.
Paramedics from the Bristol Fire Department helped deliver the baby on Route 136 late Tuesday night.
They say the mother was on her way to the hospital, but the baby boy decided to come out early.
"We got her in the truck, started to transport her, and had to pull over because she started to give birth," said Paramedic Lisa Heon.
After the infant was born, Warren police escorted the rescue vehicle to Women and Infants Hospital.
Fire officials said Wednesday that both the mom and her newborn are doing well.
