BARRINGTON, R.I. (WPRI) - A lawyer who defends people accused of driving drunk is now facing a DUI charge herself.
Barrington police arrested 31-year-old Layne Savage on Friday evening, after receiving reports of an erratic driver on the Wampanoag Trail.
Officers say they found partially empty wine containers, and partially empty liquor containers in her vehicle.
Police say Savage refused to take breathalyzer or field sobriety tests, and is now facing charges of DUI and driving with a suspended license.
Savage will be arraigned Wednesday. Her lawyer told Eyewitness News his client "strongly maintains her innocence."
