PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - A 20-year-old Coventry man was arrested Thursday on charges he obtained and shared child pornography, according to a news release from Rhode Island State Police.
Donald Bender was arrested at his workplace in Providence. He was arraigned in Warwick and released on $10,000 bail with special conditions.
According to the RISP news release , members of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force conducting an online investigation had identified a computer at Bender's home address that was actively obtaining and sharing images of child pornography, and a detective was able to download child pornography directly from that computer.
Police obtained a search warrant for the home, where they discovered several images and videos depicting child pornography, according to the news release.
If convicted, Bender could face up to 5 years in prison, a fine of up to $5,000 or both.
