LINCOLN, R.I. (WPRI) - Rhode Island veterans and troops serving overseas will get valentine cards next week, thanks to the efforts of students across the state.
Students at 26 schools have made thousands of cards for the "Valentines for Veterans" program, according to a release from Rep. David Cicilline's office Friday.
Cicilline's office said the Congressman picked up 791 cards in person Friday, that were made by students at four Lincoln schools.
Cicilline plans to deliver the cards to the Rhode Island Veterans Home in Bristol and to the Rhode Island National Guard on Valentine's Day.
