CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. (WPRI) - The Central Falls teachers union is expected to meet with the superintendent for the first time since the entire faculty at Central Falls High School was fired.
Talks between the union and Superintendent Frances Gallo are scheduled to resume on Thursday.
Gallo fired 93 teachers, administrators, and support staff last month, after the union could not agree on a reform model to turn around the chronically low-performing school.
Gallo says she is willing to try to reach a deal with the union, to avert the mass firings.
Rhode Island Education Commissioner Deborah Gist told Eyewitness News last week that no matter what kind of deal is reached, some Central Falls High School teachers will not be back next year.
