CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. (WPRI) - The financially strapped Adams Memorial Library in Central Falls has received another generous gift.
International Packaging Corporation just donated $10,000 to the library.
The Pawtucket company's president, says his firm was looking to maximize its charitable impact on the community by focusing its philanthropy at the library where he believes the money will do the most good. Most of the firm's employees live in Central Falls and Pawtucket.
The library fell victim to the city's ongoing financial collapse, closing July 1. But it reopened a few weeks later with the help of a group of volunteers.
In October, actor Alec Baldwin donated $10,000 . Actress and Central Falls native, Viola Davis, donated $1,000 in November.
The library says it's been able to raise $80,000 since volunteers reopened the library in August. Its goal is to raise $100,000 by the end of this year.
