Boy, 6, dies after pulled from water at Lincoln Woods

DEM investigating incident

LINCOLN, R.I. (WPRI) - A 6-year-old boy died at the hospital after being pulled from the water at Lincoln Woods State Beach Sunday.

The Department of Environmental Management tells Eyewitness News that lifeguards pulled the boy from the water 4 p.m.

Medical crews later transported the boy to Hasbro Children's Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A spokesperson for the DEM says an autopsy will be conducted, but that the boy did suffer from preexisting medical conditions.

The identity of the victim is not being released at this time.

An investigation in the accident is underway.
