East Providence (WPRI) - A $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest in a shocking animal abuse investigation.

Yugo, a pit bull mix, was found severely burned in East Providence earlier this week.   Investigators say Yugo had burned all over his body, including his tongue.

Yugo is being treated at the East Bay Animal Shelter.  Vets say they have received dozens of calls from families offering to adopt Yugo.  He is currently being treated with antibiotics so he does not develop an infection.  Yugo is also on pain killers, however he is eating and able to move around.

The reward is being offered by Defenders of Animals.  Anyone with information that could lead to an arrest should call East Providence Animal Control at (401) 435-7675 or Defenders of Animals at (401) 461-1922.
