Home sales on the rise in Rhode Island

897 single family homes sold in June of 2010

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - The number of single family homes sold in Rhode Island this June was 11 percent higher than it was in June of 2009.

Those statistics were released Thursday by the Rhode Island Association of Realtors.

The association says 897 single family homes sold last month. 667 sold in May of this year.

The median price of homes was also higher in June of 2010. The price increased to $220,000, The average price of a home in the Ocean State was $199,000 in June of 2009.

With the exception of February of this year which saw a small decline in sales, the number of sales has increased year over year every month for the past 15 months and median price has increased since November 2009
